In its short existence, the USL Academy and USL W League have already proven to be instrumental for ambitious young players. With the same mission to provide a more defined path to the professional level, FC Miami City and the USL W give valuable exposure opportunities to those who aspire to play on the pro or collegiate stage.

Local Success Stories

Claudia Rodriguez

Promising talent Claudia was inspiring in the forward position for FC Miami City in the first USL W season. Following the campaign, she received a scholarship for soccer at Saint Thomas University in Florida.

Yujie Zhao

Yujie’s talents allowed her to reach the professional level in Europe. She has recently signed a professional contract with Danish champions HB Køge for the 2022-2023 season.

Barbara Murillo

Barbara has already been selected by and captained the Honduras National Women’s team. The veteran defender was also named in the USL W team of the season for the league’s inaugural campaign.

“Thanks to FC Miami City, I may be leaving to go play in Mexico. That’s something I’ve always wanted for myself. It’s a dream come true!”

Therly Keus

Goalkeeper Therly Keus has already been called up to the Haitian National Team in the past, but FC Miami City helped her secure a spot with the team once again. Haiti and Theus qualified in dramatic fashion in the playoffs, and took part in the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Prudence Truchot

Prudence has received her first call to the French U16 National team in 2023, included in the list of the top 26 French youth players.  Her standout performances for the Girls Elite Academy and in the USL W where she was one of the youngest talents drew attention to Europe.

Florencia Cáceres

From her early days at PSG Academy Miami’s youth team to assuming a leading role at the FC Miami City Girls Elite Academy in the USL Academy, Florencia has been selected in November 2023 to the U17 Paraguay national team.

Linea Joergensen

Linea’s standout performances for FC Miami City in 2023 caught the attention of Strive Football Group’s club Thonon Evian Grand Genève. She signed for the Division 2 club in France, and will pursue her career at the highest level starting January 2024.
