MIAMI-Fla. – The 2017 soccer season is just around the corner and fcmiamicity.com with MiamiMediaSchool.com has you covered. We will be providing extensive preview coverage leading up to opening day on May 11th against Lakeland Tropics FC.

There are plenty of questions entering a new season. Does your FC Miami City have what it takes to win a first championship in its history? How will the City Boys’ defense fare after losing Marvin Hezel? Will there be any players from the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Florida coming back for the 2017 season?

FC Miami City vs Lakeland Tropics – Tropical Park Stadium – Home Opener – May 11th 2017 @ 6pm

Lucky 13
With thirteen returning players from seasons’ 2015-2016, the 2017 team will be an equal mix between returning players and rookies.

Top goal Scorer
As many of you have asked, Mohamed Kourouma will return this season and try to over pass his record established with eleven goals as the Champions’ leading scorer. Netting 12 goals for the Champions last season, his performance garnered a runner-up all league top scorer in 2016. With a bevy of talented midfielders coming from our French Tryouts to create chances for Kourouma, expect another solid season from the senior striker.

El Capitan
The senior captain Bryan Perea will be in his third season as a captain and will command the troops looking to find cohesion as the season progresses.

Coaches vision
FC Miami City head coach Wagneau Eloi expects a better team overall than last season’s as he brings back a host of seniors, some fresh players directly coming from France after February’s tryouts and a second-team all-conference member and top scorer Hamza Mourchid.

Five players to watch.

GK Erik Dier: Expect the junior goalkeeper to keep the Champions’ in close games if the offense needs time to adjust early in the season.

DF Bato: Bato quietly had a monster 2016 season on our Side. 13 games as a starter, 14 games played. His skill has garnered interest from many soccer teams in the U.S. but he decided to sign back with us for the upcoming season as a defender.

DF Jonathan Parpeix: Former professional player in France, Jonathan joined the FC Miami City after playing for Martigues FC this season. He made his debut as a professional player on 10 September 2010, with Nîmes Olympique.

MF Kevin Coiffic: After playing for the FC Lorient with the youth teams, Coiffic joined the City boys in 2016 for his first season: 14 apparences, 14 as a starter. 1124 minutes played, 2 goals, 10 shots. We can’t wait to see our #6 to start this year again.

F Joel Ouedraogo: On a young and talented squad with little varsity experience, the Champions likely will rely on their forward technician to lead by example. Coming from Burkina Faso and directly picked after January’s tryouts, Ouedraogo has been an example for the entire squad in his behavior and hard work during the pre-season.

We are already looking forward to cheer for our Champions this Thursday at Tropical Park Stadium!
